The mountain kingdom of Lesotho

Did you know that the mountain kingdom of Lesotho it’s the highest (by average) country in the world? It’s a country in side south Africa with no sea, only mountains. From the first km I felt in love with these countries.
It felt like going back 100 years ago.Its winter time and the mountains are covered in snow and ice.Is this Africa ?Most of the people think that Africa is a dry land, flat and hot and her I am cycling in alpine mountains.

The landscapes are really amazing especially in the winter and the roads are really hard to cycle, dirt roads with really steep climbing and I was really slow but happy. The people were so nice the kids jumping on you and running after you like I am a rock star in New York .Not many people now English but they always ask “Where from?” and “where to?” they can’t believe that I came with the bicycle and always look at me if I am a crazy guy not to take a bus like the normal people. “Sweet!?!”.All the kids asking me for sweet like I have a candy store in my bugs…Every where there is a nomad with horses and donkeys and every one is wearing a blanket this is the local fashion. For me it was the first meeting of “real” Africa . The people in the small villages don’t see many white guys on bicycle and they are very welcoming and wanting to help. In the end of the day I stooped in one small village and ask to talk with the chief of the tribe. There is always one kid that talking really good English so with his help I am telling the chief that I am from Israel (they don’t know what or where is it) and came to see the way of life in Lesotho . The chief needs to take care of the people in his village so they give me a place to sleep and eat. The entire village comes to look at the guy with the weird beard and a bicycle. There is no electricity or running water is this place, they take the water from the rivers and use the fire and candles. Every night I spent around the fire listening for stories about Lesotho . The food her is very good (porridge and beans) but I was surprised that they told me that they eating horses and cats also.I didn’t have the chance to see or eat hors or cats but they say that it’s very good. Leave something to latter…One of the chiefs was a “songma”; a witch doctor and he show me his room. Skulls of monkeys and skins of many snakes are on his wall… Every day I saw much new stuff and the way of the people leave here was new for me. Lesotho will be a place that I have to come back. I been there for only 6 days (it’s a small country) but I have stories for years…

 Love you all
