the right place to finish something big

Mon ,28/03/2011

I am full of adrenalin, full of excitement from the road and feel got much power from the place that I just been.

The last 2 days were “something to talk about” in the beginning it was cloudy and the heavy rain got to my mind but as the Beatles said :”here come the sun” so its alright…

the rainbow that came from the ocean made me forget the rain and was happy to see that the day is going to be clear.

If there is something extreme In the weather here is THE SUN ,she is so strong that you feel that your brain is cooked inside the head and even with all the sunscreen that I put with the long sleeve shirt in the end of the day you feel that you got beaten from the sun, I felt like this only in the high Himalayas or the high Andes. The sun here is notorious and pleas make sure that you going to put suncream before going to face the sun here.

And after I finished with the “education corner” of this post I can move on to the next one.

are you ready?

are you ready?

Me and etamar entered to the last leg of our journey, the far north, and there is only one place that I could think of ending crossing this country. Cape rienga is the place where the Tasmanian sea and the pacific ocean meets and native (the Maoris) believe the its the place where the spirits of the Maoris dead departure from new zeal and and beginning there long journey to there ancestral homeland.

The road to this place took us cycling on the “90 mile beach” and for the first time I cycled on a hard sand beach, really close to the waves and the fishes. One side is the sea the other is the sand dunes.

Many fisherman are seating on the road and we helped one of them to get the net out and we earned a really big fish to our dinner that day.

dinner is coming

dinner is coming

I my journey I saw almost everything and there is not many things that will surprise me but when I saw a small pinguiun running between my wheels I thought that it cant be true…

he looked lost so I took him back to the sea and said goodbye.

a friend from the sea

We cycled 50km on the beach and we camped on it and could not believe the things that we saw in one day. We looked on the photos in the camera and start to lough about all the crazy stuff that can happen in one day but we were also a bit sad, that was the last evening toghter in our journey and the day latter we will get to the top and will end the crossing of this country.

We celebrated our last night in the tour with wine and we looked at the sunset and if he weren’t an guy that looked like borat I will think that its was a romantic moment.

Oh well maybe next time I will add a women to my journeys.

There is many differences between a journey to a travel and one of them is the bonding with the friends that you meet on the journey. Friends that you meet on a “normal” traveling is most of the time “one time use” and after you continued your travels you forgetting them but the friends that you meet on the journey will stay in your heart all your life.

It more or less remind me of the friends from the army time, together we overcome challenging moments and get stronger from each other.

Etamar was a great companion to me and I we had amazing and rewarding time and I will miss the days of the “together” when I will cross the deserts of Australia soon.

go Borat go!

go Borat go!

The last day of the new zealand ride was a day to remember- on a perfect day we rode to cape Rienga the top of the far north of the island a place where the Tasmanian sea meets the pacific ocean .

this is the end!

this is the end!

There is a beautiful light house that is the symbol of this magic place.

You can actually see the meeting point and we really earned this view.

the meeting point in the sea

the meeting point in the sea

There is a sign with distances for places all over the world’ places that I have been that I start to forget but one place that I will now start my journey to meet this city.

we did it!

we did it!

We took a long bus to Auckland and I had flight 2 days latter.

Sidney- here we go.

thank you new zealand it was amazing to meet you with your nice places and amazing people.

Love you all

end of new zealand chapter

the world

Thats the way to finish my 5th continent!

Fri ,17/12/2010

I waited for this day for a long time.

Couple of days ago (15.12.10) I accomplished one of the biggest achievements and I am still don’t believe that I did that and that I brought that day to a reality dream.

When I fantasies about my last day cycling in Asia I could not imagine it really happen to me.

It was cold, so cold that the sweat layer between my clothing became ice on my body and even the most beautiful girls here will want to have a beard like my beard to help that against the shivering winds.

I will not write many words in this post, photos (and videos soon) will say everything and I really tired from this entire last chapter and really need a rest.

“He who has not climbed the Great wall is not a true man” Mao Zedong, the great leader of china said.

So I wonder what he will say about a man the cycling on the great wall?!…

Every km that I did and every drop of sweat was worth this feeling.

Me and Emuna (the bike) alone on the great wall in a magic moment that will go with me years and years.

I saw many photos of cycling and many photos of the great wall but I never saw a photo of a guy cycling on the wall so I thought that its can be the perfect combination no?

thats the way to finish a continent no?

thats the way to finish a continent no?

It was 350km east of bejing where the wall meets the ocean and I could not believe that I really doing this.

This is the day that I can say and know that I finished crossing my 5th continent and Asia was the toughest one.

I will not write a summary about Asia I have time to rest and to digest this amazing achievement.

After cycling on the wall I climbed down and walked to the sea.

I took in my hand a ball of ice a throw it to the sea ,Said  thank you for the world and now for the last continent…

This is where big starting to be huge.
